Everglades Museums

Everglades City Museum located in the heart of Everglades City is a great way to spend the hour out of the sun to learn about the ancestors that helped build Everglades City. Within view is the Everglades City Hall with many pictures and memorabilia from the ancestry of our county.

Everglades National Parks

Everglades National Park located south of town on the bay has a ranger station to learn about the Eco-system and National Parks. Also, on-site at the Ranger Station is the Everglades National Park Boat Tours doing tours through the 10,000 islands on larger boats. The Big Cypress National Preserve visitors center is located just out of town on Hwy US 41 only 4 miles from Everglades City towards Miami.

Located around Everglades City are many restaurants specializing in seafood. City Seafood located on the north of town, overlooks the Barron River so you can watch the airboats go by, manatees and birds. Originally built as a fish house by Barrel Head House in the early 1950′s then sold to Walter Brown in later years still used as a fish house has now become a restaurant called City Seafood. The Rod & Gun Club also overlooking Barron River has had guests such as presidents, chartering fishing guides and hunting ducks and the famous movie stars from movies like Gone Fishin’. The Seafood Depot located on the east side of time was the original train depot/station for the Southeastern Railway turned seafood restaurant. For a local family restaurant built in later years is the Island Cafe located on the right just off the main road coming into Everglades City.
